In a lists known as the PFC40 Autograph Index, compiled before the death of Nelson Mandela by Paul Fraser Collectibles of Bristol, England, there were two people that were described as having the most valuable autograph of all living people. Though Fidel Castro is described as the world's most valuable living signature (£3,500) further down the list it shows that by 2013 the autograph of Nelson Mandela equalled the value of the Cuban leaders signature.
Since those details were compiled the autograph of Nelson Mandela has sold for greater sums of money but often the value of the autograph is also due to the item that has been signed.
